Program for the week

Day 1: Introduction to the NLP Consultant Certification Program

Henrik: What is Consulting, Who Needs a Consultant?

What are the distinctions of NLP applied to consulting, and what unique value do consultants bring to organizational clients? We’ll look to the basics of the NLP model the Presuppositions and the structure of process versus content.

  • Acuity Performance Model versus Traditional Performance Model
  • The Starting Point Counts  (Red/Green)

Joseph: The Distinctions of NLP Consulting

Most NLP training focuses on “the individual” not the group, NLP Consulting will take you beyond the individual dimension and into the group dimension, with all the best that NLP has to offer; modeling a group, group communication and group strategy, so you can master the art of working with groups, teams and organizations.

Day 2: Exploring Groups & Teams With NLP

Henrik: First Steps of Applying the NLP Model for Consultants

One of the most basic aspects of NLP training centers around the elements of and building rapport. Today we’ll explore the idea of rapport with groups and how to connect with many people at once and pull them together into group rapport, including calibration and tracking.

Framing & Reframing
All week we’ve been working with frames and reframing, so we’ll explore some of what’s been happening behind the scenes that remained upspoken but critical to developing the outcome, how to frame a group, and reframe ideas and notions to move them to take useful action.

  • Yes-set
  • Stories

Joseph: Group Processes & How to Model Group Dynamics

Understanding the identity and structure of groups and teams, and how they are the same and how they differ.

Joseph: Team Exercises and First Level Unpacking

Working with small groups in a live performance exercise to explore shared and divergent values, and how to bring together multiple, competing agendas and outcomes within the group, Deep analysis of the exercise to divulge individual hidden agendas and secondary gains of the group participants, and inter-group rivalries.

Day 3: Interpersonal Group/Team Dynamics

Henrik: Modalities and Representational Systems

Much of what we call NLP rests on the distinction of “process” versus “content” meaning paying attention to how people make sense of the world as the perceive it. One of first things Richard Bandler and John Grinder noticed when they were working with people was that different individuals showed preferences for different sensory modalities or representational systems, and this became one of the most powerful insights of the early NLP model. Now we’ll explore how to work with sensory systems with who groups of people, including how to overlap and bring the group along when you’re communicating leaving no one behind.

  • VAK
  • Overlapping to match the whole group.

Joseph: Understanding Group/Team Patterns of Interaction

Building an interactional lens to view what pulls groups together and apart, with a specific attention to group/team rhythms.

Joseph: Pattern Recognition: Complexity, Calibration, Communication

Working with the group/team politics that affect setting outcomes, choosing roles and power structures, including leadership functions and limitations. Developing insight into the way that competing agendas affect the ability of the group to perform as a team. Using collaborative and leadership models to resolve conflict.

Day 4: Developing Team Outcomes

Henrik: Working with the Meta Model and The Basic of Language Distinctions of NLP

NLP defines language at two fundamental levels, “surface structure” the common language patterns people use when expressing themselves, and the “deep structure,” containing all the elements of perception and experience that are left out of the surface structure of communication. When working with groups, it can be essential to catching how people are talking at and over one another and not with one another. Using the Meta Model will allow you to focus specifically on the language the group uses to create a common shared understanding.

  • Meta Model, the group

Joseph: Building Precise Outcomes and Interventions
Develop a specific approach to group elicitation and outcome integration, to move groups towards a common goal and strategy.

Joseph: Defining The Consulting Engagement: Issues and Outcomes

Elicitation with a group begins in dialogue and brainstorming a wide range of possibilities, before committing to a plan of action, and the strategy for achieving the agreed-upon outcome. Once the outcome has been precisely defined, including milestones and markers, a strategy to produce it becomes possible, with reasonable levels of adjustment and refinement.

Day 5: Building Team Performance

Henrik: Anchoring with Groups
Anchoring is another powerful technique of NLP that allows a skillful practitioner to catch moments in communication and mark them out, as well as emotional peak experiences so they can be re-accessed intentionally. One of the traditional ways to anchor is with physical touch making it less than useful when working with groups, so we’ll focus on using vocal and spatial marking to create, access and use anchors. This is one of the most powerful techniques you can learn to use when working with groups.

  • Spacial and vocal ancors

Joseph: Team Facilitation and Process

Working with teams in parallel with taking action towards outcomes, including dealing with interpersonal issues as they arise.

Consulting Process and Facilitation

Properly setting up and framing the consultation process creates the best opportunity to create successful outcomes with clients, laying out the steps of a great consultation using the tools of NLP, and then facilitating the process of bringing the group into a common action frame with strong interpersonal agreements and compliance toward taking action as agreed. Exploring the

Day 6: Consolidating The Team

Henrik: ???

Joseph: Reaching Powerful Team Outcomes
Moving past individual and group performance to team outcomes that require connection and collaboration and transcend what’s possible for individuals and groups that aren’t deeply connected to significant outcomes and peak performance.

Henrik & Joseph: Summary and Conclusions
Overview of the week and training summarizing the highlights and essential learning.
